Ex-Arsenal U21 Captain Ajayi Nominated For League One Player Of The Month
Published: February 07, 2018
Former Arsenal U21 captain Semi Ajayi has been recognized for his recent impressive displays for Rotherham United, with the EFL nominating him for the Player of the Month January 2018.
The central defender has been shortlisted for the accolade alongside Tom Eaves (Gillingham), Danny Graham (Blackburn Rovers) and John-Joe O’Toole (Northampton Town).
Last month, Ajayi featured in all the matches contested by Rotherham United in the division, going the distance on each occasion, and helped the young goalkeeper Marek Rodák to post two shutouts in back-to-back games against Portsmouth and Bradford City.
The 24-year-old scored three league goals in December against Plymouth, MK Dons and Walsall FC.
A product of Charlton Athletic, Ajayi had stops at Cardiff City, AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra before his move to Rotherham United in January 2017.
He represented the Flying Eagles at the 2013 Toulon Tournament but did not make the roster for the World Cup.
The winner of the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month will be announced on Friday 9th February.
