Moses Struggles As Messi Inspired Barcelona Eliminate Chelsea From Champions League
Published: March 14, 2018
Victor Moses who plays at the right wing-back role for Chelsea put in an
average performance on Wednesday night albeit Barcelona booked their
passage to the quarterfinals of the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League at
the expense of the Premier League champions.
In the second leg tie at the Camp Nou, the La Liga side thrashed the Blues 3-0 thereby qualifying 4-1 on aggregate.
Moses was substituted off for Italy international Davide Zappacosta in the 67th minute. Moses has never played at the Camp Nou before tonight's clash with the Catalans.
Lionel Messi scored twice and was assist maker as Ousmane Dembele converted one of the three strikes.
Messi became only the second player to score 100 Champions League goals with the double against Chelsea on Wednesday.
Messi started the game on 98 goals in the competition but opened the scoring in the third minute, rifling through the legs of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from a tight angle.
The strike, which came after three minutes, was the fastest Messi has ever scored for either club or country.
Messi grabbed his brace in the 63rd minute of the game but was also the creator for Dembele's 20th minute goal but Chelsea stars who fought gamely to restore some pride finished the game with nothing.
