Published: March 15, 2018
Manager Gernot Rohr has revealed that he will monitor Nigeria's opponents ahead of the 2018 World Cup, meaning the German and his lieutenants are expected to travel to Spain and England where majority of the key players are based.
It is envisaged that the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Ivan Rakitić, Luka Modric and Aron Gunnarsson will be scouted and Nigeria coaching staff will also attend the friendlies involving these nations before the tournament in Russia.
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli watched live and direct Nigeria's key player Victor Moses in action for Chelsea against Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
'''Like everyone is doing it these days, we will scout our opponents,'' Rohr informed the print edition of Soccer Laduma.
''We will send scouts to watch their games. We have already started to analyze videos of our opponents and we will try to get as much information about our opponents.
''But we will also monitor and scout our own players in order to choose the best squad.
''And we have lined up our friendly games against team that are playing similarly to the opponents in our group.''
Rohr has appointed his former pupil at OGC Nice, Victor Agali, as his chief scout for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
