Man City's Nigeria Midfielder Receives Call-Ups From England, Germany Simultaneously
Published: March 15, 2018
Two players of Nigerian descent have been named in the latest England U18 squad announced by the English Football Association on Thursday morning.
Manchester City attacking midfielder Felix Nmecha and Tottenham Hotspur defender Timothy Eyoma might add to their international caps for the Young Lions with manager Neil Dewsnip naming both in his 20-man squad.
Eyoma was part of the England U17 squad that won the Fifa U17 World Cup in India last October and made his debut for that age group against Brazil in September 2017.
Felix Nmecha has yet to play for England youth teams since his last appearance against France U16s on October 31, 2015 amid uncertainty surrounding the national team he has committed his international future to.
In fact, the German Football Association have invited him to their U18 team for the friendlies against France on March 23 and 26, 2018, and it remains unclear which nation he would represent during the international break.
Felix Nmecha's well known brother, Lukas Nmecha, is also on the radar of the German Federation as he previously received a call-up to the U15 team.
England U18s will face Qatar on March 21 at St. George's Park, two days later they take on Argentina before their final game against Belarus on March 26.
