USA-Born Star Who Has Pledged Future To Nigeria Set To Face Man Utd Pre-Season
Published: April 03, 2018
San Jose Earthquakes striker Quincy Amarikwa is in line to face Manchester United when the Premier League powerhouse travel to America for pre-season training in July.
Manchester United have officially announced that they are back in the United States for Tour 2018.
Jose Mourinho's troops will battle Club America on Thursday 19 July in Phoenix and San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday 22 July in Santa Clara.
Having been included in every single San Jose Earthquakes match day squad since the 2018 season began, Amarikwa stands a very good chance of getting some minutes against Manchester United especially as several substitutes will be permitted in the friendly.
Born in Bakersfield, California thirty years ago, Amarikwa who is called Obinna by the Nigerian community in USA, has not earned any caps for the Americans at international level and is eager to join the Super Eagles setup.
In 176 appearances in Major League Soccer, he has tallied 24 goals and provided 20 assists.
It remains to be seen if Mourinho will name Nigerian duo Matthew Olosunde and Tosin Kehinde for the trip to America, both players have trained with the first team this season.
