Swansea City On Brink Of Deal For Youngest Nigerian To Play In Premier League
Published: July 10, 2018
Demoted Premier League side Swansea City are on the verge of announcing the capture of Swedish-born Nigerian whizkid Joel Asoro.
It is all but confirmed that the striker will be joining the Swans before the end of this week after Sunderland accepted a bid in the region of two million pounds from the Championship outfit.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has explained the decision behind the sale of Asoro to Swansea City, saying he was sold at the right price bearing it in mind that the player has entered the final twelve months of his contract.
''I thought I had done quite well with base price,'' Donald stated on Twitter.
''He is a League 1 player with 1 year left. Played half a season. Has potential but so do all young players.
''Will haggle harder sorry guys if I’ve undersold him - I thought on balance all things considered a decent price.''

Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Asoro is the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut in the
English Premier League, aged 17 years and 117 days, when he came on in
the 81st minute of Sunderland's 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough on August 21,
2016.
