Nigerian Right Back Omitted From Manchester United Tour Squad Amid Possible Departure
Published: July 16, 2018
Matthew Olosunde has been omitted from Manchester United's traveling party to United States, where they will continue their pre-season preparations and participate in the International Champions Cup.
Manchester United Academy players Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood were included in the first team squad that flew out to the United States on Sunday evening.
Olosunde's omission from the group clearly suggests that he's not in the plans of manager Jose Mourinho in the forthcoming season and a transfer might be on the cards before the close of the summer transfer window.
Indeed, earlier this month, NBC Sports Pro Soccer Talk reported that several English Championship and League One sides have expressed interest in Olosunde on a potential loan deal next season.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut for the United States after coming off the bench in their 3-0 win over Bolivia in a friendly in May 2018, despite not having a single appearance to his name for Manchester United's first team.
Olosunde joined Manchester United from New York Red Bulls in 2016.
