Nigerian Striker Blasts Referee For Not Awarding Man City At Least One Penalty Vs Liverpool
Published: July 26, 2018
German-born Nigerian striker Lukas Nmecha has blasted the American referee that officiated the friendly between Manchester City and Liverpool for not awarding the Premier League champions at least one penalty during the contest.
The International Champions Cup clash was destined to end in a draw, only for The Reds to net a late winner from the spot through Sadio Mane in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Liverpool were awarded a penalty after Dominic Solanke was taken down in the area by City's Tosin Adarabioyo.
''We should have had a couple of penalties in my opinion," said Nmecha to Man City's official website.
"We pressed well, showed good aggression and the principles are starting to resonate. We're getting closer together and now we head to Miami where we'll just try and get back to winning ways.
"It's been tough losing these two matches but we'll aim to bounce back at the weekend."
