Danish-Born Nigerian Midfielder Takes Europa League Tally To 3 In 2 Games
Published: August 24, 2018
Danish-born Nigerian midfielder Ayo Okosun took his tally in the Europa League to three goals in his last two matches after finding the net as Midtjylland were held to a 2-2 draw by Malmo on Thursday night.
For the second successive game in the competition, Okosun came off the bench and made an impact, netting a crucial goal in the 77th minute to bring the scoreline to 2-2.
With Midtjylland trailing by two goals, Gustav Wikheim reduced the deficit with a brilliant strike from distance off a headed assist from the young Nigerian winger Frank Onyeka.
Thirteen minutes after his introduction, Ayo Okosun was in the right place at the right time and latched onto a loose ball parried by the goalkeeper before scrambling home from close range.
The central midfielder netted a brace in Midtjylland's 3-1 home win against The New Saints last week in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
Paul Onuachu started and was involved for 64 minutes against Malmo before he was replaced by Okosun.
