Published: September 07, 2018
England U18s made it two successive wins at the ongoing Lafarge Foot Avenir in France after thrashing Russia 3-0 on Friday afternoon.
Three Nigerian starlets were named in the starting lineup of the Young Lions, with Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo making his debut, and West Ham U18 skipper Ajibola Alese and Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun handed their full debuts.
John-Jules Tyreece opened the scoring for England in the 15th minute, before Keyendrah Simmonds doubled the advantage in the 40th minute.
Chelsea midfielder Faustino Anjorin, who came on as a substitute for his second cap for the U18s, struck in the 48th minute to seal the win for Neil Dewsnip's boys.
For the second game in a row, Arsenal winger Xavier Amaechi's name was not included on the team-sheet, fueling speculation that he did not travel with the squad to France.
Manchester City U18 captain Nathanael Ogbeta and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka are the other players of Nigerian descent on international duty with the Young Lions.
