Ex-West Brom Defender Udeze Tips Chelsea To Drop Points, Liverpool To Continue Impressive Form
Published: September 17, 2018
Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has tipped Liverpool to continue their impressive run in the 2018/2019 season but considers Chelsea likely to drop points in the coming weeks before the Reds.
Both teams have perfect starts to their campaigns having won five of their opening league matches but the onetime West Bromwich Albion left back has given his opinion about the likelihood of the sides having succession of wins after the international break.
Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Saturday while Chelsea romped to a 4-1 win over Cardiff City over the weekend in their fifth round of matches of the English Premier League.
"Both teams have started well but I feel Liverpool will have a better run this season," the defender told Brila FM on Monday.
"Chelsea are playing well, Eden Hazard is happy and is definitely one of the best in Europe according to his manager Maurizio Sarri. He is a key player for them.
"However Liverpool's defence is better than Chelsea's. They have conceded less goals and I believe its Chelsea that will be the first to drop points this season.''
Chelsea will on Thursday play against Udeze's former Greek club PAOK in their first group game of the UEFA Europa League while Liverpool will take on Paris Saint Germain midweek in the UEFA Champions League.
