Official: Promising Defender Signs New Deal With Manchester United
Published: October 08, 2018
Through a publication on their official website, English Premier League giants Manchester United have announced that young defender Ethan Laird has signed his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old has been rewarded with a new deal on the back of his impressive displays for Manchester United's youth teams
Speaking on the deal, Laird said : ''It’s like a dream come true. I know it’s a cliché to say that but it really is.
''From the age of nine, growing up in the Academy and seeing players above you get to the places you want to be, it’s just something you strive for. I’m really, really happy.''
He added : ''A lot of sacrifices had to be made and I feel like it’s paying off now. I mean it’s only step one and there are a lot more steps to come, including obviously getting to the final stage, which is the first team.''
Ethan Laird has been invited to the England U18 squad along with six Nigerian players Arthur Okonkwo, Ajibola Alese, Bukayo Saka, Nathaniel Ogbeta, Faustino Anjorin and Folarin Balogun for the upcoming games against Sweden and Czech Republic.
