Obi Mikel Pays Tribute To Ex-Chelsea & England Captain John Terry Following Retirement
Published: October 08, 2018John Obi Mikel has paid tribute to his former teammate at Chelsea John Terry who announced his retirement from football on Sunday after a successful 23-year playing career.
Terry was on the books of Chelsea for twenty two years, making 717 appearances and scoring 67 goals which makes him the highest scoring defender in the club's history.
The central defender made 6 appearances during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2000, played 36 games for his last club Aston Villa and won 78 England caps.
Mikel took to social media to thank Terry for everything he taught him during their time together at Chelsea.
The Super Eagles skipper posted on Instagram : ''Oi Georgie mate what a career you’ve had! It has been an honour to work, win and share good old banter with you.
''You are a true Captain and a great Leader, I’m grateful to have been able to learn from you. Enjoy your retirement old boy 😉and good luck in all your future endeavours. @johnterry.26''.
Mikel made 372 appearances for Chelsea before ending a ten-year association with the London club in January 2017.
