Published: October 23, 2018
Arsenal defeated Leicester City 3-1 Monday night in the English Premier League to go ten games unbeaten in all competitions and go fourth in the table.
The English press rated the performance of the three Nigerians in action at the Emirates; Alex Iwobi for Arsenal, and the duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Mirror wrote:
"Iwobi 8 - More signs of his improved confidence this season. Constant threat."
It was another 8 out of 10 for the Nigerian who was awarded the Man of the Match ahead of the Gunners' captain on the night, Mesut Ozil, this time by www.Football.london.
"Alex Iwobi - 8."
"Came into the game in fine form and deservedly retained his place in the team, even if it was the expense of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Aaron Ramsey.
"Started slowly but lit up the game with an excellent piece of skill, nutmegging Nampalys Mendy and grew into match as time wore on.
"If not for Ozil's wonderful display then the Nigerian would be getting all the plaudits.
The 4thofficial.net handed the Nigerian a rating of 7 out of 10.
"Was a livewire on the pitch, tearing up the Leicester defense quite a few times. However, could not provide proper finishing to his efforts."
Football blog dedicated to Arsenal, Pain in the Arsenal rated Iwobi highly with a 7.
"Was Arsenal's brightest player in the first half, though that isn't saying all that much.
"Continued in the same vein after the break. Direct, intentional, confident and assertive, Iwobi is in the form of his life and is now one of the first names on the team-sheet. Aaron Ramsey could learn a lesson or two."
Allarsenal.com in its assessment stated:
"Alex Iwobi started slowly but grew into this one.
"The Nigerian international seemed to burst into life in the final thirty minutes and can be pleased with his night."
On the opposing side, a website dedicated to Leicester City, Filbertway.com was complimentary with the brief ratings of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho. It simply gave Ndidi who had a great goal scoring chance a 7 and Iheanacho 6 out of 10.
