A 78th minute strike from Danny Welbeck proved to be enough for Arsenal to pip Sporting CP 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
With the win at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Arsenal continued their flawless sweep in Group E with nine points from three games.
They had earlier accounted for the scalp of Qarabag and Vorskla in the group.
Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi who was listed in the Gunners matchday squad entered the game as a substitute in the 86th minute, replacing Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Sporting entered the match off the back of a 2-1 win over Loures in the Cup at the weekend, but their last league fixture ended in a 4-2 defeat at Portimonense.
In the first period, Sporting had the best chance when Nani made the most of a mistake from the Arsenal defense, but his effort whistled just over.
Twelve minutes from time, Arsenal made the breakthrough as Welbeck raced away from the Sporting defense before firing into the bottom corner of the net.
