'Moses Is More Suitable For Playing Wing-back' - Chelsea Boss Indicates Nigerian Star Is Surplus To Requirements
Published: November 04, 2018
Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has indicated that Victor Moses is surplus to requirements ahead of his side's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday evening.
Antonio Conte used to set up his team in a 3-4-3 formation and Moses flourished after he was converted to a wing-back but has not shown enough versatility to be considered by Sarri in his 4-3-3 system.
The ex-Nigeria international started 54 Premier League games while Conte was in charge but has not made the starting lineup this season, with Belgium World Cup star Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro ahead in the pecking order of wingers.
Asked to comment about the future of Moses and England star Danny Drinkwater, Sarri told reporters : ''I think the situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two other midfielders.I told him two months ago what I think.
"Moses is more suitable for playing wing-back than like a winger or a full-back, I think. I don't know [if they have a future at Chelsea].

''They have to improve but their characteristics are a little bit different."
Moses could leave Chelsea on loan or permanently when the transfer window reopens in January. His contract runs out June 2021.
