Super Eagles Winger Iwobi Reacts To Injury Suffered By Danny Welbeck
Published: November 09, 2018
Alex Iwobi shared his thoughts on the injury sustained by Danny Welbeck shortly after Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Sporting CP in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The England international was stretchered off in agony after half an hour, was given oxygen on the pitch before he was rushed to the hospital.
Iwobi was gutted that Welbeck faces another spell on the sidelines and has wished the attacker a swift recovery.
''It’s very challenging mentally, but sometimes it comes in the game and there’s been a lot of injuries, and unfortunately for Danny he’s had a few so we’re going to wish him the best,'' Iwobi told arsenal.com.
''Both sets of teams were mentally challenged and we were able to continue with the game, but like I said, we wish him all the best and we will keep on encouraging and motivating him to get back. ''
Despite the goalless draw against the Portuguese opponents, the Gunners have qualified for the knockout rounds of the Europa League. Unai Emery's man face Wolves on Sunday in the Premier League.
