A Bridge Too Far: Chelsea's Nigerian Midfielder Seven-Game Scoring Streak Ends Vs Tottenham U23
Faustino Anjorin failed to the find the back of the net for Chelsea youth teams for the first time in eight matches as the U23 team were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League 2 encounter on Friday evening.

With 24 minutes remaining and Chelsea losing 1-0, Anjorin came off the bench as the Young Blues searched for an equaliser and was joined on the pitch by Tariq Uwakwe on 77 minutes.

Joe Edwards’s side had to wait until the 89th minute before Charlie Brown drilled home the equaliser.

Anjorin's goal against Arsenal before he joined the England U18 camp saw him score in seven successive matches across all competitions.

The midfielder, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Friday, previously wrote his name on the scoresheet against Swansea City U18, Brighton U18, West Ham U18, Molde U19, Brighton U23 and Plymouth Argyle.

And he took that form to the Young Lions, scoring in a 3-1 win against Belgium on November 19.

Tottenham Hotspur central defender of Nigerian descent Timothy Eyoma played the full game for the visitors.
