Nigerian Striker On His Way Back To Chelsea As Loan Deal Ends
Published: January 05, 2019EFL League One club Scunthorpe United will not be extending the loan of London-born Nigerian striker Ike Ugbo.
The Iron bolstered their squad in August 2018 with the temporary signing of Ugbo and their agreement with Chelsea will expire on Sunday, January 6, according to BBC Humberside Sport.
The 20-year-old has been left out of the Scunthorpe United squad against Coventry City at Glanford Park on Saturday afternoon.
It is envisaged that Chelsea will loan out the striker to another club before the close of the January transfer window.
In 15 league outings for Scunthorpe United, Ugbo got on the scoresheet only once, against AFC Wimbledon in September.
He spent the first half of last season on loan at Barnsley before transferring to Milton Keynes Dons last January.
Ugbo's progress at Chelsea is being monitored by the Nigerian Federation and
they held secret talks with the player at the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza
Hotel in March 2018 ahead of the national team's pre-World Cup friendly
with Serbia.
