NFF General Secretary Refuses To Be Drawn Into Debate On Whether Salisu Yusuf Is Coach Of Nigeria U23s
Published: February 14, 2019
Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi has refused to be drawn into a debate on whether Salisu Yusuf is the coach of Nigeria's U23 National Team.
It would be recalled that the Yusuf was banned for one-year from all football-related activities by the Nigeria Football Federation following its consideration of a complaint as well as the coach's defence of a video documentary in which he was seen to accept the sum of $1,000 from an undercover reporter posing as a players' agent.
However, Nigerian Federation President, Amaju Pinnick earlier stated that Yusuf still has a valid contract with the NFF.
''We have two legged matches against Libya and the coaches are going to start very soon,'' said Mohammed Sanusi.
Asked who is heading the U23 team, Sanusi replied : ''We already have a coaching crew on ground and we have already announced long ago and it's the same coaching crew that is going to resume.
''I don't want to say anything but I'm saying to you that we have a coaching crew on ground''.
The Dream Team VII will face Libya in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month, with the first leg to be played in Tunisia while the venue of the second leg has not yet been announced by the Nigerian Federation.
