Manchester United's Nigerian Defender Makes First Appearance In A Year Vs Stoke U23s
Published: February 18, 2019Matthew Olosunde's injury problems are truly behind him, with the Nigeria-eligible defender making his first appearance this season for Manchester United U23s on Monday evening.
The right-back was named in the starting line-up in a Premier League 2 Division 2 clash against Stoke City at Harrison Park (Leek, Staffordshire) but unfortunately for him and the Red Devils, they fell to a 3-1 loss to the Potters.
Olosunde last featured for Manchester United in a Premier League International Cup game against Villarreal on February 27, 2018 prior to his comeback game today.
Against Stoke City, he was yellow carded in the 18th minute for tugging on the back of Verlinden’s shirt.
Olosunde will now turn his attention to United U23s next match against Reading next Monday after coming through his comeback game unscathed in ninety minutes of action.
The 20-year-old was overlooked for a first team debut due to his long spell on the sidelines.
