'We See Him In Training, He's World Class' - Ozil Receives Highest Praise Possible From Iwobi
Published: February 22, 2019
Alex Iwobi appreciated the game of Mesut Ozil in Thursday evening's Europa League round of 32 second leg clash against Belarusian opponents BATE Borisov.
The 2014 Germany World Cup-winning midfielder has been labelled world class by the Nigeria international and he's backing the Gunners number ten to retain his spot in the starting line-up after falling out of favour in recent weeks.
''We know what Mesut’s like, we see him in training every day. He’s world class,'' Iwobi told reporters post-match
''You know we’ll create a lot of chances with him in the side so we just have to hope that we put our chances away and we’re able to score three goals from it, like today.
''So hopefully he continues to play.''
Iwobi admitted that he is benefiting from some good link-up play with the German in the attacking third.
''It’s about trying to create space and makes the right runs.
''I know if I make a run he’ll be able to find me because he’s got the vision to spot it, so I just have to make it easier and try to make a run so that he can play the ball for me,'' he concluded.
Iwobi and his teammates will discover their opponents in the Europa League round of 16 when the draw is held in Nyon on Friday, February 22.
