One Player Who Deserves Sarri's Attention After Incredible Spell In Spain
Published: April 23, 2019
Kenneth Omeruo joined Chelsea in 2012 following his fine display for Nigeria's U20 side during the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup.
After the tournament in Colombia, The Blues did everything possible to sign the Sunshine Stars product and his defensive partner Ganiu Ogungbe but they missed out on the signature of the latter.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old Omeruo is yet to record a single appearance for the West London club, and has moved from one loan to another.
Omeruo spent more than a year with Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag before he was loaned to Middlesbrough in the Championship.
He equally spent time with Kasımpaşa and Alanyaspor (Turkish Super Lig), before he joined Leganes prior to the start of this season.
However, this season has arguably been the best of his career since he left the shores of Nigeria. Omeruo's overall performance at the heart of Leganes defense is nothing short of brilliance.
He was one of the brightest players on the pitch during their 2-1 defeat to Villarreal last Sunday and that has been the story since he completed his loan switch to Mauricio Pellegrino's side.
On the contrary, Maurizio Sarri's men are far from impressive at the back of the pitch in recent matches, which has played a huge role in dashing their top-four hope.
The Blues were thrashed 2-0 by Liverpool before being held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley last night. David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger's partnership has left so much to be desired and solution must be provided before next season.
Considering the Omeruo's incredible form and the Chelsea's inability to purchase new players in the summer transfer window due to FIFA's sanction, Sarri should look at Omeruo's direction as one of the best solutions to the defensive crises rocking his team.
