Arsenal Duo Azeez, Okonkwo Report For Pre-Season Training Next Week
Published: June 24, 2019
Talented England youth internationals of Nigerian parentage Miguel Azeez and Arthur Okonkwo will report for pre-season training at Arsenal next week Monday, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The two teenagers will be hoping to catch the eye of first-team coach Unai Emery during the pre-season preparations as they aim to earn spots in the traveling party to the United States.
Last season, Azeez impressed for Arsenal U18s despite being a schoolboy, having a hand in four goals from his eight appearances in the U18 Premier League.
As exclusively reported by this website earlier, the 16-year-old has agreed a scholarship which will be activated on July 1, 2019.
The central midfielder started all of the Young Lions matches at last month's U17 EURO in the Republic of Ireland.
Goalkeeper Okonkwo has brighter chances of making the roster for the tour of United States as he trained with the first team several times last season and caught the eye in the tail end of the campaign with three clean-sheets in his last four games.
The 17-year-old was on England U18 duty in June and was unbeaten as the Young Lions recorded wins against Russia and Mexico.
