Published: November 07, 2019
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Golden Eaglets players and officials are on their way back to the country following Nigeria's elimination from the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup.
The five-time world champions bowed out of the ongoing tournament in Brazil after a shock 3-1 loss to the Netherlands on Wednesday morning.
The Nigeria delegation boarded a plane, with flight number G3 1853, from Goiana to Sao Paulo on Wednesday afternoon, 1205 hours local time and the flight time was one hour and forty minutes.
Upon their arrival in Sao Paulo, they switched flights to South African Airways (flight number SA 223) and departed Brazil at 1730 hours.
The plane landed in Johannesburg this afternoon at approximately 1500 hours local time.
A South Africa Airways plane with flight number SA 60 is expected to touch down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos at 1950 hours.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the future of Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba is up in the air following the team's dismal performance in Brazil.
As things stand, the Nigeria Football Federation are not planning to announce Garba's sack because his contract with the Nigeria U17s expires in the coming weeks.
