Celtic, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce Run The Rule Over Former Arsenal Star Akpom
Published: December 01, 2019
According to Sportime Greece journalist Gian Chorianopoulos, top European clubs sent their scouts to the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki (Piraeus) to monitor the Greek Super League meeting between Olympiakos and PAOK on Sunday, December 1.
At least one scout representing Scottish champions Celtic attended the game and there were also talent spotters working for Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Fiorentina, Werder Bremen, OGC Nice and Rennes.
PAOK defender Sverrir Ingason's 29th minute opener was cancelled out by Mathieu Valbuena in the 64th minute.
Former Super Eagles invitee Chuba Akpom made his tenth appearance of the season when he came off the bench in the 66th minute as PAOK searched for a winning goal after the opponents equalised.
As for Nigeria international Anderson Esiti, the defensive midfielder has lost his starting spot, logging 28 minutes from a possible 810 in the last nine league games contested by PAOK.
Esiti did not have the chance to show off to the scouts in attendance because he was not summoned off the bench by manager Abel Ferreira.
Akpom penned a three-year deal with PAOK in August 2018 after spending sixteen years at Arsenal while the Super Eagle joined the Thessaloniki-based club from Gent in the summer transfer window.
