Iwobi Still On The Mend Ahead Of Everton's Trip To Manchester City
Published: December 31, 2019
Alex Iwobi will certainly not be named in Everton's traveling party to Manchester for their Premier League clash against the champions on New Year's Day.
The Toffees have confirmed through their official website that the Super Eagles playmaker continues to recover from a hamstring issue he suffered during the opening minutes of the goalless draw with Arsenal on December 21.
The injury is expected to keep Iwobi on the sidelines for a minimum of two weeks, meaning it is looking likely that he won't be available for selection for the derby against Liverpool at Anfield this coming Sunday.
He has already missed two matches in the Premier League, against Burnley and Newcastle United, due to his recent ailment.
Assuming the Nigeria international makes a speedy recovery, he could return to training before the home game against Brighton & Hove on January 11, 2020.
Before going into the treatment room, Iwobi had played 20 games in all competitions for the Toffees following his big money transfer from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
