Five Nigeria-Eligible Youngsters Train With Arsenal First Team Pre-Chelsea
Published: January 20, 2020
The duo of Mazeed Ogungbo and Tobi Omole have become the latest Arsenal starlets invited to train with the senior team ahead of the crunch clash with Chelsea on Tuesday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
At least five Nigerian youngsters partook in the Gunners training session at London Colney on Monday, namely Folarin Balogun, James Olayinka, Bukayo Saka, Omole and Ogungbo.
With Arsenal facing a defensive crisis of some sort, manager Mikel Arteta has continued to hand promotions to some of the finest defenders in the club's Hale End academy, with a view to observing them at close quarters.
Left-back Tolaji Bola was the club's 19th man in the matchday roster for the side that faced Sheffield United last time out in the Premier League, but was not photographed training with his mates for this one.
Saka is most likely to continue at left-back when they tackle Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and he was deployed there when they went down 2-1 in the reverse fixture in December 2019.
Aside the versatile winger, the other four players of Nigerian descent in training today have yet to make their senior debuts for the north London club.
