Lille Hail Super Eagles Striker Osimhen After 16th Goal In All Competitions
Published: February 02, 2020
Victor Osimhen continued his banner season in the colours of Lille on Saturday evening, scoring in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Strasbourg in a Ligue 1 game at the Stade de la Meinau.
In their official match report of the game on their website, Lille noted that Osimhen's usual great ball control was instrumental for the team in the final third and which nearly led to an equaliser in the 29th minute, writing,
"The pressure increases on the goals of Sels with attempts by Bamba (27th) and Xeka (29th) but especially by Victor Osimhen (29th), very close to equalizing. His usual control oriented - instant strike crashes on the bar of the Alsatian porter."
However, the Lille No. 7 gave his team all three points ten minutes from time when he stepped up and converted from the spot after Luiz Araujo was fouled in the area.
The strike thus, took his goal tally to 16 in all tournaments for Christophe Galtier's team this season, while he has also laid on three assists.
Lille who continue to chase Champions League qualification are back in league action on Tuesday when they host Rennes at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
