Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool Battling To Sign Aston Villa's Nigerian Midfielder
Published: April 10, 2020
Three Premier League giants are battling for the signature of Nigerian wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports.
The Athletic says Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are monitoring the situation of the Aston Villa midfielder ahead of a possible move for his services in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa have started talks with Chukwuemeka and his representative over a new contract but an agreement was not reached before football activities were suspended in England due to the coronavirus crisis.
Though he has represented England at U17 level, he is qualified to represent Nigeria straightway as the games were non-binding.
Chukwuemeka has been described as the best 16-year-old in England by Aston Villa chief executive Christian Purslow.
The two Manchester clubs and Liverpool are among the teams to have monitored him at close quarters this season while in action for Aston Villa U18s.
Since the beginning of February 2020, Chukwuemeka has played three matches for Aston Villa in the Premier League 2.
He was at the Northampton Town Academy before his move to Aston Villa.
