Racing Genk Ready To Sell Hagi To Rangers To Fund Bid For Heracles Marksman Dessers
According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Racing Genk are working on a deal to sign the unofficial top scorer in the Eredivisie for the 2019-2020 season, Cyriel Dessers.

Looking for a successor to Ally Samatta, who moved to Aston Villa in the January transfer window, Genk were interested in signing the Nigerian striker last winter but backed away due to his asking price.

Scottish Premiership side Rangers are on the brink of signing Racing Genk-owned attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi, the son of former Barcelona and Romania legend Gheorghe Hagi, following a successful loan spell.

There is talk of Genk using the fee they get from the proposed sale of Hagi to Rangers, thought to be in the region of five million euros, to fund a bid for Dessers.

The 25-year-old has seen his stock rise after a banner season that saw him score 15 goals in 26 matches and earn a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles, so Heracles Almelo have raised his asking price to six million euros.

Dessers won't count as a foreigner assuming he moves to Genk as he has a Belgian passport.

He wore the colours of Belgian clubs FC De Zwaluw Vechmaal, Union FC Rutten, SK Tongeren, St-Truiden, Oud-Heverlee Leuven and KSC Lokeren before moving to the Netherlands in the summer of 2016.
