Man Utd Star Labelled 'Rubber' By Ighalo Pips Ndidi To EPL Top Tackler 2019-20
Published: July 27, 2020For the first time in three seasons, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi won't be picking up the top tackler accolade of the English Premier League after he was narrowly beaten to the prize by Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Signed from Crystal Palace last summer, Wan-Bissaka has been labelled 'rubber' by his teammate at the Red Devils, Odion Ighalo because of his flexible waist.
"That guy is one of the best right-backs," Ighalo said in a Twitter interview with Juliet Bawuah during the lockdown.
"His waist is like rubber, the way he bends and steals the ball, the way he tackles the ball away, sometimes I'll be afraid that he's going to get injured."

Wan-Bissaka finished the season with 129 tackles whereas Ndidi, his closest challenger for the award, racked up 128 tackles.
However, it should be noted that the United fullback played 35 games in the recently concluded campaign, three more than Ndidi, and spent 397 more minutes on the pitch than the Nigerian.
While Ndidi averaged 4 tackles per game, Wan-Bissaka made 3.7 tackles per game - bettered by only one Premier League player in Ricardo Pereira who averaged 4.3 tackles per game.
The Leicester City number 25 won the top tackler prize in his first full season in the Premier League, 2017-2018 and retained it the following season.
