Man Utd, Liverpool Suffer Transfer Blow As Nigerian Midfielder Inks New Aston Villa Deal
Published: July 27, 2020
At least two English Premier League clubs have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Nigerian wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka, with the midfielder inking a new deal with Aston Villa.
Manchester United and Liverpool were among the clubs monitoring
the situation of Chukwuemeka ahead of a possible move for
his services in the summer transfer window, before he committed his future to Aston Villa.
Today, Monday, the 2004-born player, who has been labelled the best 16-year-old in the whole of England by Aston Villa chief executive Christian Purslow, took to social media to announce that he has signed a new contract.
"I am happy to have finally committed my future to @avfcofficial can’t wait for the new season🙏🏾," Chukwuemeka posted on Instagram.
Though the teenager has not disclosed the length of contract, a FIFA rule states that players under the age of 18 may not sign a professional contract for a term longer than three years and any clause referring to a longer period shall not be recognized.
In the curtailed Academy season, Chukwuemeka represented Aston Villa in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup, FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2, scoring 3 goals from 22 appearances while producing six assists.
