UCL Squad Changes : Bayern's Musiala In Line To Face Ex-Club Chelsea; Man City's Bazunu In
Published: August 05, 2020
German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have submitted an updated squad list for the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Manager Hans-Dieter Flick has made some alterations to his original squad list ahead of their round of 16 clash against Chelsea at Allianz Arena (München) on Saturday, August 8, one of which sees Stuttgart-born attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala named to the roster.
Musiala will be relishing the opportunity to face his old club Chelsea, where he had his footballing education for eight years before joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019.
Born to a Nigerian father and German mother, he became Bayern Munich's youngest ever Bundesliga debutant when he came off the bench for the final two minutes of a 3-1 victory against SC Freiburg on June 20, 2020, aged 17 years and 115 days.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee is one of four Bayern players axed from the roster but that does not not entirely rule him out of the Champions League.
The Nigerian Federation target qualifies to be included on the List B as he is classed as an U21 player and has spent more than three years at Bayern Munich.
Manchester City can call upon the services of one of the most promising Nigeria-eligible goalkeepers in Europe, Gavin Bazunu, when they do battle with Real Madrid on August 7, with the Republic of Ireland youth-teamer added to the squad.
Bazunu has been spotted training with the first team of the Citizens since the resumption of the season ahead of a possible debut.
