'It's The Best Feeling' - Left-footed Chelsea-Owned Midfielder Uwakwe On First Career Hat-trick
Published: September 09, 2020
Left-footed Chelsea-owned midfielder Tariq Uwakwe got off the mark as quickly as possible on his professional debut for Accrington Stanley, scoring after four minutes in their 7-0 rout of Leeds United U21s in an EFL Trophy clash at Wham Stadium on Tuesday night.

The feat was more remarkable considering that the Anglo-Nigerian last played competitively for Chelsea youth team in March 2020 and featured in only one friendly match in pre-season before heading to Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan.
Uwakwe, who has played in a variety of positions including left wing-back, left midfielder, central midfielder and winger, has spoken of his happiness at scoring a treble in his first game as a professional.
"It was really just what I wanted, just how I wanted to start, coming to a club especially to this club to score a hat-trick on my first game, on my debut, it's the best feeling," Uwakwe said to ASFCofficial via YouTube.
"It's always great when you get a big win like this and it was a massive win for us, first game of my season, second game for the lads and we got a big game coming up on Saturday so literally we've got to keep working towards that so it was good to get the hat-trick and it was a good thing for me and the boys."
Uwakwe, who took the match ball to a Lancashire hotel after yesterday's game, has revealed its ultimate destination.
"It's my first hat-trick in a professional environment so hopefully I get to frame it back home. I'll never forget this hundred percent," the Accrington Stanley number 14 added.
The 20-year-old, who has played non-binding games for England youth teams, is set to make his League One debut against Peterborough United on Saturday, September 12.
