Liverpool Striker Delighted To Choose England Over Nigeria Ahead Of Potential Unofficial Debut
Published: September 13, 2020
Liverpool FC Women star with a Nigerian background, Rinsola Babajide is in the frame to make her unofficial debut for England's senior national team in an in-house 11v11 training game behind closed doors on September 18.
The former Millwall Lionesses and Watford striker has received her maiden call-up to the Three Lionesses for a training camp at St. George’s Park, starting from September 15, on the back of her outstanding performances last season.
Babajide is seemingly a fan of Nigeria Women's national team,
Super Falcons as she follows the African champions on Twitter, however,
she has been lackadaisical in switching her international allegiance
from England to Nigeria.
Speaking to Liverpool's official website, the 22-year-old is looking forward to making her mark for Phil Neville's team.
"It was a really proud moment for myself and my family. It's an honour to be called up and these are the moments I play football for, to play with the best of the best," Babajide said.
"I know a few of the players from playing with England at U18, U19 and U20s level and I've also played against some of them. I'm also looking forward to seeing Niamh [Charles] again.
"I want to be like a sponge and go there and learn from the more experienced players, but I'm there as a competitor to work hard and show them what I can do.
"I want to cement my place and make sure I can get in the next squad and the one after that."
