'He Is Playing Very, Very Well With Nigeria' - Rohr Backs Bordeaux's Kalu To Rediscover Form

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is backing Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu to get back to his best form after a difficult 2019-2020 campaign.
Kalu made only fifteen starts from a possible 28 over the course of last season and has started just one match in the current season after four rounds in the Ligue 1.

Kalu made only fifteen starts from a possible 28 over the course of last season and has started just one match in the current season after four rounds in the Ligue 1.
With the appointment of veteran tactician Jean-Louis Gasset as the head coach of Bordeaux last month, Rohr reckons that Kalu could become a key player this season.
Despite his struggles at Bordeaux, Kalu is firmly in the plans of the Franco-German coach who has named him in the Super Eagles squad for their upcoming games against Algeria and Tunisia.
"There's this Kalu who is playing very, very well with me and Nigeria, who lost a bit of confidence last season," Rohr toldĀ  Top Girondins Magazine via Girondins4ever.
"It was not going very well with the staff from the previous season. There, he is trying to find a little of his means, both physical and moral.
"It is resurfacing. With the new staff, he will have more possibilities to play in his real position, which is the position of a pure winger, dribbler, centralizer, who can even score goals as he did with us.
"I hope to see him again on Sunday against Nice "
Kalu opened his goalscoring account for the 2020-2021 season in Bordeaux's 2-1 loss to Lens last weekend.
