Everton maintained their one hundred percent start to the new season after beating Brighton & Hove 4-2 at Goodison Park on Saturday evening, with Alex Iwobi playing a part for the Toffees allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigeria international initially started the match on the bench but manager Carlo Ancelotti was forced to make a substitution twenty-five minutes in, bringing on his number 17 for the injured Richarlison.
Goals from the red-hot Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina put Everton 2-1 up at half-time, with Neal Maupay getting a temporary equaliser.
Eight minutes into the second half, James Rodriguez made it 3-1, the Colombian slotting home after a low cross from Iwobi.
The Nigerian was involved in the build-up to the second goal scored by Rodriguez in the 70th minute when he played in Doucouré to cut back and the former Real Madrid man sidefooted into the net.
According to OPTA, Everton have won their opening seven games of a season in all competitions (previously in 1894-95) for only the second time in the club's history.
Iwobi will now turn his attention to international duty with the Super Eagles who face Algeria and Tunisia in friendlies scheduled to hold in Austria.
