Four Teenagers Of Nigerian Descent Train With Arsenal First Team Pre-Sheffield United
Published: October 04, 2020
Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta monitored at close quarters four Nigeria-eligible teenagers during the Gunners final workout held at London Colney on Saturday, October 3 ahead of his side's English Premier League meeting with Sheffield United.
According to Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird, Folarin Balogun, Daniel Oyegoke and James Olayinka were involved in the training session with the first team.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka, who is in contention to make his competitive debut for England's senior team, was spotted training, which is certainly good news for managers Gareth Southgate and Arteta as the versatile winger picked up a knock during the win on penalties against Liverpool three days ago in a Carabao Cup fixture.
Apart from Saka, none of the aforementioned players have played competitively for Arsenal's first team though Balogun and Olayinka have made matchday squads for the League Cup and Europa League respectively.
Balogun training with the senior team in recent days could mean that he is being considered for a professional debut amid reports linking him with a departure from the Emirates Stadium.
The England U20 invitee was earlier frozen out of first team training due to his contract standoff with the club.
