'Joe Did Well As Well' - Rangers Striker Defoe Lauds The Performance Of Super Eagles Star
Glasgow Rangers striker Jermain Defoe was left impressed by the performance of Joe Aribo as Rangers defeated Livingston 2-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

The Super Eagles midfielder marked his return to the starting lineup by finding the net in the ninth minute before Defoe wrapped up the scoring with his 300th career goal seven minutes later.

Aribo missed ten matches in total comprising three in the Europa League qualifiers and seven in the Scottish Premiership while on the sidelines and was omitted from the Super Eagles squad for their games in October after failing to recover from an ankle complaint.

In his first start since August 12, the former Charlton Athletic man was on parade for 75 minutes at Ibrox and came through the game unscathed.

"I was raring to go and I prepared myself really well for the game and I knew when I got the opportunity, I would have to take it," Defoe said to Rangers TV.

"Joe [Aribo] did well as well following a long lay-off with injury but it was a good win and we are delighted."

Aribo's return to fitness will be sweet music to the ears of Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr who is set to announce his squad list for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Sierra Leone.
