Arsenal team news: Arteta names 17yo Nigerian forward in travelling squad to Sunderland

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Nigerian forward Andre Harriman-Annous is in contention to be named in Arsenal's matchday squad on Saturday evening when the Premier League leaders take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

After monitoring Harriman-Annous throughout the week, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta included the promising forward in his travelling squad for the trip to Sunderland.

The Hale End Academy graduate made an impressive senior debut on October 29, starting in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Just six days later, he became one of the youngest Nigerian players to appear in the UEFA Champions League, coming off the bench for the final nine minutes of Arsenal's win at Slavia Prague.

Harriman-Annous' first involvement with the senior squad came at the end of August when he was an unused substitute in a Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Should he feature against the Black Cats, Harriman-Annous would become the second youngest Nigerian to play in this season's Premier League at 17 years and 315 days, behind Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha.

Ahead of a potential Premier League debut, Harriman-Annous was not on U21 duty against Southampton on Friday night.

The London-born forward joined Arsenal in May 2016 and signed his first professional contract in August.
