Everton's Iwobi, Fulham's Aina, Rangers Duo Among The Latest Arrivals In Nigeria Camp
Published: November 10, 2020Five British-based players have reported for international duty in Benin City three days before Nigeria face off against Sierra Leone in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Everton winger Alex Iwobi, Fulham fullback Ola Aina, Watford's William Troost-Ekong and Rangers duo Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun are now with the Super Eagles team in the Edo State capital.
According to the release, Ahmed Musa, Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastian Osigwe, Zaidu Sanusi, Tyronne Ebuehi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Maduka Okoye have shown up in camp.
The biggest novelty is the presence of Heartland goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who wasn't named in the original squad list because he has been inactive since forever.
Akpoguma, Osigwe and Okoye are seeking to make their competitive debuts for Nigeria against the Leone Stars.
The former Germany U20 skipper has made a one-time switch to represent the Super Eagles while goalkeepers Okoye and Osigwe would become cap-tied to the three-time African champions if handed minutes in any of the two matches this month.
