Super Eagles Await Akpeyi, Kaizer Chiefs Goalkeeper Won't Report For International Duty Today
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Daniel Akpeyi is among the Super Eagles players faced with a travel delay before Nigeria's upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.

The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper was still in South Africa as at Tuesday but hopes to board a flight to Nigeria this evening.

Based on his itinerary, he won't arrive in the Super Eagles camp in Benin City until Wednesday, November 11.

Akpeyi, the most experienced of the three goalkeepers named in the original squad list, has kept clean sheets in his two appearances for Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership while conceding five goals in total against Orland Pirates in the semifinals of the MTN8.

The 34-year-old is battling the rookie goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and uncapped FC Lugano star Sebastian Osigwe for a starting shirt in Friday's game with Sierra Leone.

The former Warri Wolves glovesman wasn't called up for last month's friendlies with Algeria and Tunisia due to concerns about his fitness.
