Bordeaux's Nigeria International Samuel Kalu On The Road To Recovery
Published: November 10, 2020
Bordeaux's Nigeria international Samuel Kalu is on the road to recovery, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The winger was omitted from the latest Nigeria squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone after suffering a hamstring-related injury during the friendly with Algeria around one month ago.
Kalu is back in training and worked with the ball on an individual basis on Tuesday, November 10.
Bordeaux have greatly missed the Nigeria international with the club losing three of the four matches he wasn't available for selection and their only win was against Ligue 1 strugglers Nimes.
Jean-Louis Gasset's team face Rennes in their first game after the international break on November 20 and it remains to be seen whether Kalu will be in the traveling party to Brittany.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, the former Gent star managed to force his way into Bordeaux's starting lineup after starring off the bench.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr called up Club Brugge winger Emmanuel Dennis for the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone when it became clear that Kalu had no chance of fully recovering.
