'I Want To Score Goals Every Single Game' - Aribo Targets Third International Goal Vs Sierra Leone
Published: November 12, 2020
Glasgow Rangers central midfielder Joe Aribo arrived at the Nigeria camp in Benin City on Tuesday full of confidence after scoring two of his team's eight goals in their 8-0 demolition of Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.
The former Charlton Athletic man started his Super Eagles career on a bright note, scoring in back-to-back friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil with both games played on quality pitches.
Having failed to find the net in his last two competitive appearances for the national team in Africa, Aribo is targeting his third international goal in Friday's meeting against Sierra Leone.
"I'm enjoying it here in Benin. It's very overwhelming and I'm happy to see that the fans are here with us and they're supporting us so it's a good feeling," Aribo said to Super Eagles TV.
On what Nigerians should expect from him if he's named in the starting lineup, the left-footed midfielder said : "Just my normal game, I bring energy, I want to play fast and just make it hard for my opponent and win the game of course".
Aribo expects that his energy will translate to goals, saying : "Hopefully by God's grace, that's the aim, I want to score goals every single game I play but I want to just do all I can for the team to get the result that we can get".
With the exception of the 4-2 win over Lesotho last November, Aribo has gone the distance in all the matches he has played in a Nigeria shirt.
