'I liked Ndidi the most' - Urundul says Besiktas stand-in captain was outstanding in win v Antalyaspor

Turkish football analyst Omer Urundül has heaped praise on Wilfred Ndidi following his commanding display in Besiktas' victory over Antalyaspor, describing the Nigerian midfielder as the standout performer of the Super Lig match.

The Black Eagles were two goals up at half-time, with former Nigeria Football Federation target Tammy Abraham opening the scoring with a deflected strike from outside the box, before Tiago Djaló doubled the lead with a well-taken header.

In the second half, Jota Silva restored Beşiktaş' two-goal cushion after Yohan Boli had reduced the deficit for the visitors.

Ndidi, who captained Beşiktaş in the absence of skipper Orkun Kökçü, anchored the midfield with composure and authority, earning plaudits for his leadership and work rate.

The Super Eagles star won two aerial duels, completed 88.6 percent of his passes, contributed five tackles and four clearances.

"I liked Ndidi the most last night. He gave a truly outstanding performance," Urundül told Sabah Spor after the game.

Urundul was less impressed with another Besiktas striker Abraham, criticising the forward for failing to meet expectations.

"However, Abraham, who was transferred with high expectations, was a complete disappointment," the veteran pundit added.

Since his arrival from Leicester City in the summer transfer window, Ndidi has appeared in 12 matches across all competitions for Besiktas, scoring one goal and producing an assist.

The 28-year-old is expected to report for Super Eagles duty early this week, having been named in the Nigeria squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon's Panthers.
