Super Eagles Playmaker Iwobi Reacts To Shock Draw At Home To Sierra Leone
Published: November 14, 2020
Everton star Alex Iwobi was understandably disappointed after the Super Eagles surrendered a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 with 120th ranked nation Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday evening.
It was a proverbial game of two halves with Nigeria scoring all their goals inside 30 minutes in the first half while the Leone Stars found the net three times in the second half.
Iwobi was the shining light when things were going well for the Super Eagles, getting on the scoresheet in the 4th and 27th minute, taking his tally for the national team to nine goals in the process.
The Super Eagles playmaker opened the scoring with a shot from just outside the box before scoring the goal of the game, unleashing a first time strike from 25 yards that sailed into the top corner.
Writing on social media, the number 18 stated : "Deeply Disappointed , We’ll Work To Put Things Right".
This marks the second time in Iwobi's career that the Super Eagles failed to win when he has found the net, and the first was in a pre-World Cup friendly vs England in June 2018.
Gernot Rohr's team racked up wins against Zambia twice, Argentina, Cameroon and Lesotho with Iwobi on target.
