Super Sub Hoogewerf Comes Off The Bench To Score Winning Goal For Manchester United U18
Published: November 21, 2020
Manchester United U18s continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Netherlands youth international of Nigerian descent, Dillon Hoogewerf had to settle for a place on the bench at the start of the game but played a key role in the win following his introduction in the 69th minute.
It was goalless at the break but Emeran came closest to breaking the deadlock when he struck the post.
Two minutes from time, Hoogewerf bagged the match-winning goal, assisted by Charlie McNeill.
One of the standout performers for Manchester United U18s last term, Hoogewerf has seemingly fallen down the pecking order in the new season with only three starts to his name after seven matches.
Given the impact he has made when he has been called into action, it is only a matter of time before the former Ajax Amsterdam starlet fully regains his place in the starting lineup.
The Red Devils are level on 18 points with table-toppers Liverpool U18s but have a game in hand.
