Club Brugge Chief Labels Okereke 'A Great Talent' Ahead Of Champions League Showdown Vs Lazio
Published: December 08, 2020
Club Brugge CEO Vincent Mannaert has praised former Nigeria U23 international David Okereke, revealing the winger is a great talent, ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash against Lazio at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Okereke had his footballing education in Italy where he spent roughly three years before he was snapped up by Club Brugge for a club record fee of eight million euros.
With a hand in 22 goals in his final season at Spezia, the Football College Abuja product has not really lived up to his billing since his move to Belgium in the summer of 2019, so much so that he is not a guaranteed starter these days, with only four starts from a possible 20 in all competitions this season.
"We took Okereke, Italian football is a good source of talent, there are interesting young players in Serie B," Mannaert said to Tuttomercatoweb (via Area Napoli).
"Will Okereke play? The coach will decide ... he is a great talent. great qualities. We are very happy with him ".
With a win this evening, Okereke and his Club Brugge teammates would progress to the round of sixteen as runners-up in Group F.
