'We Don't Do Offsides Really' - Solskjaer Reacts To Lookman's Opener Against Manchester United
Published: January 21, 2021
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reacted to Ademola Lookman's opening goal for Fulham in his side's 2-1 win at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles hopeful showed brilliant composure to give the Cottagers the lead in the
5th minute, drilling the ball into the bottom corner after he was played
onside by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Norwegian football tactician revealed post-match that his players could have done better at tracking the run of Lookman in the build-up to his goal.
The Red Devils eventually won the game and moved back to the top of the Premier League table thanks to a poacher's finish from Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba's brilliant second half strike.
On Lookman's opener, Solskjaer was quoted as saying by United's official webpage : "We don’t do offsides really; we should follow the run.
"That’s down to
when they run from deep – we knew they were going to do that. We hadn’t
woken up, but a good reaction."
Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo was left out of the Manchester United side for the visit to the English capital, he has yet to make his full Premier League debut since joining the Old Trafford outfit.
